Dr. Naqvi's Story

Before becoming a psychiatrist, I completed three years of residency in general psychiatry and two years of training in child and adolescent psychiatry as a fellow. I also completed one year of residency in Family Medicine in New York. However, within that year, I realized that something was missing—my passion.

Making the decision to switch to a different professional field required a great deal of courage and support, as it came with uncertainties. Fortunately, I found my true specialty. I am now a double board-certified psychiatrist, certified in Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT). My experience as a hospital-based physician in general psychiatry was eye-opening, inspiring me to pursue my dream of becoming a child and adolescent psychiatrist.

I have worked in the Child and Adolescent Outpatient Department for many years, which further solidified my dedication to this field. Additionally, I am currently working in the Behavioral Health Emergency Department and as a Consultation Liaison. Throughout my career, I have gained a deep appreciation for the benefits of Western psychiatry while also recognizing the value of an integrative approach to holistic patient care.
